More Strangeness on the Way
The Life is Strange franchise has been thriving since its debut in 2015. Gamers were introduced to Max, a time-manipulating photography student. And a solid supporting cast of characters that include Max’s rebel friend, Chloe Price, and a popular missing girl, Rachael Amber. Before the Storm, a prequel, allows fans to experience the events of Rachael’s disappearance. It’s the only entry thus far that doesn’t include a protagonist with a supernatural ability.
Life is Strange 2 took us on a cross-country journey with two brothers. Sean and Daniel, are on the run from police because of a false accusation. And oh yeah, Daniel has telekinesis. Pretty awesome!
Life is Strange: True Colors, the fourth and latest entry in the award-winning series, will be released on multiple platforms this coming fall. While not an officially numbered sequel, it is developed by Deck Nine Games, the same studio responsible for Before the Storm, in collaboration with Square Enix. We don’t know all the details of the story as of yet. But a recently revealed launch trailer showcases an all-new cast of characters. They include Alex, the game’s protagonist who goes to stay with her brother, Gabe, in a small mid-western town named Haven Springs. Think Fargo meets Big Sky. After which, her brother apparently, uh, dies. Hey, no one ever said the Life is Strange series was rife with unicorns and rainbows.
The title is named True Colors, due to Alex’s ability to see other people’s emotions in the form of multicolored auras. A cool concept, it seems, and one I’m anxious to explore. Unlike previous entries in the series, all episodes will be available on launch day. So no having to wait months to continue the game.
We still have several months until True Colors drops on several platforms, including Stadia on September 10. But Life is Strange: True Colors seems to be shaping up to be another exciting entry in the franchise universe. Check out the trailer below and stay tuned for Hardcore Droid’s official review upon release.
