A Celebration!
New content, costumes, and improved features are in the latest update for Tower of God: New World. Players can also participate in a special event inspired by a traditional Korean holiday.
Tower of God: New World is an RPG adaptation of the popular 2014 Korean graphic novel series Tower of God. Its upcoming Khun Family Fall Festival event coincides with and draws inspiration from the Korean holiday of Chuseok. Sometimes referred to as Korean Thanksgiving, Chuseok sees families gather to honor their ancestors and celebrate a plentiful harvest. The premise of the Fall Festival event follows the idea of a fight for the coveted position of Family Head. It offers rewards like a special boss event for those who clear the whole event story.
The update also adds two new Super Rare Plus (SSR+) teammates. Khun Edahn is in the ranged class and his Montana Azul spear paralyzes enemies and deals continuous damage. He also has an active defense skill that is impenetrable, as well as a passive lightning strike. The other new character, Khun Kiseia, is an assassin with powerful stealth attacks and boosted speed. Accompanying Kiseia is her drone-like Observer, Baby Growler, who can mark and attack non-boss enemies. She can also actively teleport to and stun enemies with the lowest HP. Both characters have quite a bit of spunk in their personalities.
Honoring Their Roots
The new costumes are the most apparent Chuseok-inspired drops. Whether it’s a simple pattern or the entire fit, each costume incorporates elements of traditional Korean clothing, known as hanbok. Khun Kiseia’s “swaying lantern” skin is a loose adaptation of the hanbok but includes symbolic features like the moon and cherry blossoms. Khun Hatzling’s ‘Dignified Wanderer’ costume is more faithful to the traditional hanbok. The teammate Khun Aguero’s new outfit, “Steadfast Promise,” resembles more modern adaptations of hanbok that are becoming popular among K-pop idols and other Korean celebrities.
The new content includes two chapters and a weekly “Guardian Test” with objective-specific rewards. There are also check-in rewards and a special event exchange shop. The update improves translation features and bug fixes impacting specific characters and their special moves. Lastly, developers added the Administrator’s Blessing to give players an optional buff when they have been defeated in Adventure multiple times. Overall, the update should bring improved functionality and a fun adaptation of the Chuseok celebration true to the game’s origins.
