Charge into Battle and Take Down the Moon
Warhammer has a long and storied history. Since its inception in 1986, it has been captivating audiences from around the globe. What started as a tabletop game has blossomed into a multimedia juggernaut, all the while staying true to its roots and cultivating a loyal fanbase, spin-offs, and encyclopedic lore. Developer Virtual Realms’ Warhammer Odyssey aims to bring this storied series to the mobile MMO genre.
This is not Warhammer’s first foray into the MMO space. However, it is the first time this type of game is being developed for mobile. Having developed the 2013 MMO of the Year Nominee, Celtic Heroes, Virtual Realms may be just the team for the job.
Odyssey boasts 6 playable classes with 12 specializations and promises “dynamic skills and playstyles.” Players will take control of these heroes to stand against Morrslieb, the Chaos Moon. Morrslieb and its peons aim to sow destruction and bring the walls of man crumbling down.
Long time Warhammer fans may also have something to be excited about. Odyssey claims players can interact with and help the most legendary characters from the Warhammer universe, all while exploring iconic locations from the Warhammer canon. Additionally, Virtual Realms promises the game and world will develop and expand over time as they release regular episodic content.
Currently the game is sitting at 3.5 stars on the Google Play store. Players seem to enjoy the overall style and gameplay but agree that the game lacks polish. Since the game is still in active development, there’s plenty of time for any issues to be hammered out. Stay tuned for the full Hardcore Droid review.
