Multi-Crashes
It is difficult to write a review of a game that crashes every ninety seconds, but here we go. Anime: Multiverse War has all the potential of a good Street Fighter knock off. However, the game freezes and crashes so much there is no way to give it a fully analyzed review. The developer, Room Studio, has nothing in the way of game support. This might be because their website is not even up yet. We will give them the benefit of the doubt. But the fact that there is not even a support option in game is a major fault in my book. Players have no means of providing feedback except through the download platform.
Multi-Issued
Regarding the gameplay, there is little to be said when you cannot play the game. What can be said about Anime: Multiverse War is this: the user interface is intuitive and well laid out. Everything is in a logical place on the screen. It is a shame the player can barely see the controls against the overly vibrant color scheme. Also, the controls do not possess the responsiveness required in a real time combat game. This hurts the game overall, outside of the constant crashing. The graphics are solid and nostalgic. However, on the screen of a mobile phone, I would prefer large characters and a smaller arena. Instead, players have tiny characters and an arena that scrolls. It is off-putting and unsightly. The music is not memorable in a good or bad way. The sound effects are solid, if a hair out of sync.
Multiple Reasons to Avoid
Regarding playability, when players cannot even succeed in Anime: Multiverse War’s tutorial, then there might be something askew in the leveling schema. I do not claim to be a great arcade combat player, but this game’s difficulty goes above and beyond. The AI will always have the upper hand because it’s coded to do so. Add this with unresponsive controls and a jittering system that crashes and you get a flop of a game. We will not bother discussing the microtransactions within game. Nor will we address the long in-game ads. Do not let yourself be pulled in. Give this game a wide berth.
IS IT HARDCORE?
Absolutely not
This is a 1, through and through.
