Best Android Multiplayer Games
Many of us enter the world of gaming to provide an escape from reality. The humdrum, and sometimes anxiety inducing, nature of routine can drag us into the doldrums of monotony. We play games to remove us from this pit and provide us with moments of joy and fantasy.
While there is a large fandom for single-player games (myself included), the connections made through multiplayer titles are hard to beat. The memories we make and stories we tell stick with us forever. Whether taking out an opponent with a sliver of life left, crossing the finish line a split second before the rest of the pack or dominating your foes with the greatest ease, multiplayer games offer something that cannot be replicated anywhere else.
Below are some of the best multiplayer games available on Android. Whether you’ve played them already or experience them for the first time, we here at Hardcore Droid believe every game listed provides a treasure trove of memories to share with your friends.
16. Spades
The objective of Spades is to win the number of tricks that your team bids on at the start of each round. This classic card game has gained popularity online and can be played on Android devices at Spades.co, offering an accessible and engaging platform for both new and experienced players along with rules and instructions to better master the thrilling game.
15. Black Desert Mobile
Boasting upwards of 40 million players online, Black Desert Mobile is a wide ranging MMORPG where you play as an adventurer suffering from a case of amnesia having lost all your memories. Your task is to unravel the truth of the ancients by exploring the world of the Black Desert. Create your own character and story while basking in awe at the magic of the graphics Pearl Abyss jammed into a mobile game. If you’re a fan of MMORPGs, you have to check out Black Desert Mobile.
14. Old School Runescape
Any MMORPG with staying power is sure to go through several changes, evolutions you might say. Runescape is no exception. Originally released in 2007, Runescape has grown and shifted with audiences and hardware capabilities. However, for those seeking a more original experience, Old School Runescape is for you. Nostalgia is a powerful feeling that leaves many gamers longing for the days of yore. Jagex Games Studio understands this feeling and released Old School Runescape in 2013 to satiate the masses seeking an original experience. If you jumped into the game later in its life, check out this version and see what Runescape was like at the beginning of its MMORPG tenure.
13. Runescape
While I also fall victim to the nostalgia bug (I’m a big fan of the original Gwent found in The Witcher 3), I do not allow nostalgia to cloud my judgment. While Old School Runescape is a nice dive into the past, Runescape is a better version of the game overall. The improvements and additions made to the game have served to improve gameplay and create a stronger game. Hindsight is always 20/20, they say, and looking back on your work to find how to revise and improve it is bound to create a stronger product. That is what has happened with Runescape since it first dropped in 2007. This MMORPG has evolved into something grander and is 100% an improvement on the original.
12. Hill Climb Racing 2
For me, racing games are at their best when they’re at their most chaotic. Hill Climb Racing 2 provides a whole lot of chaos. This competitive multiplayer racing game offers over 20 different vehicles. From cars to trucks to tanks, Hill Climb Racing 2 allows players to customize their vehicle and racer in a multitude of satisfying ways. Moreover, there are dozens of tracks ensuring this game won’t feel repetitive. What’s more, players can race against their friends or team up as part of a larger racing team to take on the world. Hill Climb Racing 2 is a bundle of fun, and its aesthetic had me belly laughing with every race.
11. Clash Royale
An offshoot of Clash of Clans, Clash Royale is a deck building game providing just the right amount of challenge and strategy to keep players hooked. With over 100 million downloads, there are plenty of players for which to test your skills. The game boasts over 100 cards to collect and take into battle. Much like other top card games, Clash Royale holds seasonal events to keep you coming back for more. You can join a clan allowing players to share cards and battle together in Clan Wars. Clash Royale is everything one expects from a top deck building title. It is sure to not disappoint.
10. Brawl Stars
Brawl Stars is a cute, fast paced 3v3 multiplayer and battle royale shooter. The game offers several different modes of play and dozens of characters to upgrade. Brawl Stars is everything you expect from a multiplayer shooter. What makes this game fun is the fast paced nature and its cute, cartoony aesthetic. I get a case of the giggles every time I jump into battle. Moreover, developer, Supercell, has declared there will be continuous updates providing skins, maps, special events and game modes added in the future. This one is sure to entertain for the foreseeable future.
9. T3 Arena
Another entry in the battle royale genre, T3 Arena stands out with its ease of use. A pick up and play style game in a genre known for skilled players picking on newbs, T3 Arena allows anyone to join in on the fun without feeling as though they’re lightyears behind the pack. This isn’t to say there’s no level of skill necessary. T3 Arena is simply a fun romp for anyone interested in feeling like a master of their domain. If there were any downfall, the game feels like an Overwatch clone through-and-through. The overall aesthetic screams Overwatch. However, for some, that might be a boon rather than a detriment.
8. Brawlhalla
Are you a fan of Super Smash Bros.? Wait…What am I saying? Of course you are. Well, get ready for another title in the same vein as the Nintendo classic. Brawlhalla works similarly to the Super Smash Bros. in that two players fight and try to knock one another off of their battlefield platform. The differences lie in the abilities of the fighters. Brawlhalla offers a variety of archetypes from western cowboys to Viking warriors to the grim reaper. With over 50 characters you’re sure to find a main to suit your personality.
7. Diablo Immortal
There is a lot in Diablo Immortal that reminds me of the games I loved. That’s good. However, this is a mobile game, and Blizzard uses many of (if not all) the tricks in the book to influence players to spend loads of money to proceed through the game. That’s bad. There are moments in this game where progress moves at a snail’s pace. This is to encourage microtransactions. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth and ruins the Diablo experience. However, Diablo Immortal is still a fun game to play as it includes many of the things that players love about the series. It’s also a fairly good looking game jammed into your phone. Fans of Diablo should check it out, but keep in mind, you may find yourself wanting to spend money you don’t need to simply to progress the game.
6. Call of Duty Mobile
Now in its fifth season, Call of Duty Mobile still ranks as one of the most popular multiplayer games on mobile. Everything you expect from the title is packed into your phone with game modes such as Team Deathmatch, Domination and Kill-Confirmed. They also boast popular maps such as Shipment, Raid and Standoff. Additionally, for those seeking to show off their skills, Call of Duty Mobile offers a 100 player Battle Royale. What more is there to say? This is the Call of Duty we all love at our fingertips.
5. Legends of Runeterra
One of the highest rated games on this list, Legends of Runterra is a skill based card game similar to Hearthstone. This is not a game for the faint of heart. Players must take the time to learn the mechanics to truly master the strategic elements of this game. This is a multiplayer game made for those seeking to show off their skill. Cards can power up during battle, counter moves made by your opponent but also be countered if you fall into autopilot. This is a challenging game full of various regions to assist you in becoming a Runterra legend.
4. Dead by Daylight Mobile
Dead by Daylight recently made a lot of buzz with its inclusion of Nicolas Cage into the console version of the game. The mobile version welcomed its own update known as The Fog. A 4v1 horror and action game, Dead by Daylight Mobile pits four survivors against one killer and makes teamwork the fulcrum for survival. With The Fog update, players are lost to the smokey ambiance creating a suspenseful experience and amplifying the terror of the game. This is one that is sure to create a series of memories you won’t soon forget.
3. Teamfight Tactics
Teamfight Tactics, also known as TFT, takes teamwork seriously. This PvP autobattler forces players to work as a team to build the proper strategy for taking down their opponents. One wrong move, and your team is toast. This 8-way free-for-all is a turn based auto battle offering hundreds of team combinations. This allows for a lot of freedom in the ways teams build their plan of attack and keeps things fresh. Each game feels unique and allows players to discover their favorite way to play. This is the type of game that brings friends closer together.
2. RAID: Shadow Legends
If you are reading this, it’s highly likely you have seen an advertisement for this game. RAID: Shadow Legends has become a force to be reckoned with. Providing a large series of Champions for players to collect including former UFC and current WWE star Rhonda Rousey, RAID: Shadow Legends has cemented itself as one of the most popular and engaging idle MMORPGs out there. Players can take their Champions out on dungeon raids or take on other players inside PVP arenas. When life comes calling, players can let their heroes venture out on their own without missing a beat. The only downfall is that RAID is a freemium game which allows those willing to cough up the coin to advance more quickly than those who would rather not pay for the service.
1. Among Us
We all know this game. The popularity of Among Us has surpassed the likes of Fortnight and Fall Guys. This intriguing game of secrecy and subterfuge is a ball of fun and invokes all the feels. If you’re one of the very few who are unaware of this game, Among Us puts players on a spaceship with one or several imposters that must be discovered. Imposters sabotage the crew and attempt to not be caught. Using all the brain power one can muster, crewmates must work together to discover the imposters and save their ship. The fun is in the discovery and the ability to keep one’s self hidden when marked as an imposter. I’ve never had more fun lying to my friends.
