Handyman 68’s New Year Rhapsody
NEXON Company’s gacha, Blue Archive celebrates the start of October with a rerun of the 2022 New Year’s event, New Year’s Rhapsody No. 68, with new students Kayoko (New Year) and Haruka (New Year). Understandably, it is not New Year season, but the game’s global app has different dates for when events occur. Blue Archive is considered one of the top gacha RPGs to grace the Google Play Store. With over a million downloads and making over $250 million since its global release back in 2021.
In Blue Archive, players become the sensei and advisor for the Federal Investigation Club since the General Student Council president has gone missing. Without the Student Council President, anarchy takes over, and it is up to players to gather Kivotos’ students for battle. With strategic combat and various characters to collect, the gameplay is much more dynamic than most gacha games. Pick who you want on your squad, each student bringing a different set of stats and abilities, and watch them as they battle it out to help save Kivotos.
Kimonos are In
Kimonos symbolize longevity and good fortune. They are also worn to celebrate festivals, so Kayoko and Haruka are rocking kimonos for the New Year. Kayoko is a mystic-type striker from Gehana Academy, one of the 15 academies in the game. Her EX Skill increases mystic damage to one ally for 40 seconds but cannot be used on herself. Haruka is an explosive-type striker from the Gehana Academy too. Her EX Skill decreases the critical damage and resistance to one enemy and increases Haruka’s critical damage to the enemy.
Along with Kayoko and Haruka New Year releases, Blue Archive treats players to the “Cherry Blossom Festival” event without limits to the playtime. Blue Archive’s story is also getting an update as the story continues with Chapter 4, “Phrenapates Showdown.” Chapter 4 concludes with this epilogue. And lastly, to celebrate the upcoming second anniversary, a Blue Archive livestream will be held on October 28. For more mobile game news and reviews, be sure to stay up to date with Hardcore Droid.
