Rule # 1 Cardio
Those who are avid survivors in various zombie apocalypses know that cardio is the most important rule. In fact, zombie survivor expert Columbus would agree. James, the main character of Into The Dead 2 Unleashed, would agree too, since he spends much of the game running in a race to save his wife Helen and his family. With an arsenal of high-powered guns, James can save his family or fall prey to the vast zombie horde.
Into The Dead 2 Unleashed, not to be confused with Into the Dead 2, is an endless runner survival game combined with FPS gameplay. Into The Dead 2 is developed by PIKPOK, a New Zealand-based publisher who developed Rival Stars Horse Racing. Netflix in their infinite wisdom took Into The Dead 2 added the word “unleashed” into the title and took out all microtransactions from the original game all while adding more content. Netflix leaves their members with Into the Dead 2 Unleashed the best version of the game by far. With no microrotations, the player gets a well-polished game only at the price of a Netflix subscription.
Run For Your Life
The player takes control of James, a family man who races to try and save his entire family. The gameplay loop is always the same. You gear up, choosing weapons, power-ups for your weapons and a dog companion. After you gear up, you are thrust into the level where you run for your life as zombies try and eat you. You spend time strafing back and forth while mowing down the zombie horde with high-powered weaponry. The confined locations make for tense stages towards the end of the game. Nothing is scarier than running in a cornfield and praying a zombie doesn’t jump out at you. Killing zombies is a very simple process however as your character does so automatically when they get in front of one. This will disappoint any FPS fan. The beginning of the game feels too easy because the starting locations are not difficult or claustrophobic. However, that changes as you progress.
You level up your weapons and companion during the game. This is wonderful because you have a wide variety of guns to choose from. This makes the same boring gameplay loop more interesting. The way that some of the special gun’s work makes the game, along with the intensity of late game levels. The sixty main campaign levels and the most awesome Ghostbusters content Into The Dead 2 Unleashed will keep any zombie survivalist busy for a long time during this spooky season.
Should I Run for the Hills?
Despite minor nitpicks not having much control over your character the stagnant gameplay loop, Into the Dead 2 Unleashed is by far the best horror game on Netflix right now, which is saying a lot with Netflix going all in on mobile gaming. Last year our talented writer Jack Brassell ended up placing Into The Dead 2 at number 2 on a list of the best zombie games and for good reason. The gameplay loop is addictive and hooks the player with many gun choices. With Into The Dead 2 Unleashed taking everything great about the original and making it better with additional add-ons and content. It is safe to say that you should run right now to download the game to justify getting a Netflix subscription. Just make sure that you download the game that has the Netflix logo on it.
Is It Hardcore?
If you are a horror fan
The most unique endless runner I have ever played. A good addition for any fan of the zombie survival. Netflix is determined to be at the forefront of mobile gaming.
