NieR Reincarnation Announced for iOS and Android
Buckle your seatbelts, JRPG fans. It’s NieR’s 10th anniversary and in celebration, Square Enix has announced the release of NieR Reincarnation, the series’ first mobile title.
NieR Reincarnation’s trailer is intentionally ambiguous (albeit beautiful). It showcases the title’s rich, android-themed post-apocalyptic setting in lieu of gameplay. Given information on the game’s site, the game will be free to play and sadly will likely feature microtransactions.
Square Enix revealed NieR Reincarnation alongside an HD revitalization of NieR Replicant, a remaster of 2010’s NieR—the cyberpunk title that started it all. Officially titled NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…, the appropriately named title comes to PC, Xbox One and PS4 on April 22. Altogether, longtime fans have a lot to be excited about. Likewise, this provides the perfect opportunity for newcomers to enter the series.
NieR has been a longtime favorite of game critics and snobs alike. It wasn’t until NieR Automata‘s success that the series began to receive more mainstream following, at least in the west.
With no set release date, Applibot and Square Enix are likely to release more NieR Reincarnation information in the coming months. Therefore, you can expect continued updates on gameplay, mechanics and all things NieR. Stay stoked, stay tuned and theory craft anxiously in the meantime.
