What Lurks Beneath?

The depths of the oceans remain one of the last unexplored domains. Experience this mysterious realm firsthand in Oceans Lite, from North Star Games, which is now available for free on Android and iOS. Based on the board game from the same developer, Oceans Lite is a card game about evolving species to withstand changing ecosystems and the unknowns that hide under the surface in the depths of the water.

Players select a species card and equip various traits that give the card special abilities. Players must then battle each other, like most other card games and eliminate the others person’s team to take control of the available fish. Ocean’s Lite features a new, unique interface that differs greatly from the board game version. The board game only featured cards and the reef where players can obtain fish, but Ocean’s Lite brings together every aspect of the game.

Being the lite version of the game, it naturally features fewer cards than its board game counterpart. Still there are plenty of cards available, including 100 unique traits in the Deep deck. To experience the full game, players will have to pay for the expansion. Luckily, PvP is accessible in the lite version of the game, so you can play against your friends for free.

Oceans Lite borrows many of the core elements from its board game predecessor. All of the original strategy elements from the board game are still on full display, while streamlining a lot of the game with a new interface that makes gameplay much faster. Fans looking to explore the mysteries of the deep can do so by downloading Oceans Lite in the Apple App store or the Google Play store today.

Hey, I’m James, or Jimmy, whichever you prefer. I am a graduate of the prestigious Temple University, where I once got in trouble for trying to say my middle name was, ‘Butt Soup.’ When I’m not writing about Android games, I’m usually writing about the 76ers for thephifthquarter.com. I’m 5’7, 170lb, right handed, and one time I high-fived Kendrick Lamar. That’s pretty much me.
